After working together at a leading consulting and research firm, Principals Edward McDonnell and Daniel Doane founded MD+A in 1998. Their vision is to assist organizations in achieving their business objectives through the effective use of information technology.
Daniel Doane
Daniel is Principal and co-founder of MD+A Consultants, and has over 12 years experience planning and leading information technology projects in both the public and private sectors. Currently based in Toronto and Nassau, Daniel has worked with Canadian and international jurisdictions to develop national strategic plans and health information systems, and has managed the implementation of provincial and national public health information systems in Canada and the Caribbean.
In additional to project management and strategic planning, Daniel has extensive experience in information privacy and organizational change management in response to the introduction of information systems.
Prior to co-founding MD+A, Daniel was a consultant with a leading international consulting firm. Daniel holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Saskatchewan, and has completed graduate work in Communications and Media Studies at Concordia University in Montreal.
Edward McDonnell
Edward McDonnell is a Principal and co-founder of MD+A Consultants. He has consulted extensively on the design and deployment of innovative IT systems in Canada and the Caribbean. He has also been a project leader on a number of provincial e-Health and human services projects including a provincial eHealth record initiative in the HIV care sector, and the information systems and organizational change management to support the launch of the 2-1-1 phone service in Canada.
Edward has done ground-breaking policy development in areas such as Emergency Health Communications post-SARS and Privacy Management in the context of new provincial health privacy legislation. More recently he has been active in the support of effective health information technology deployment in new Primary Health Care Models across Ontario.
Prior to co-founding MD+A, Edward was a researcher and consultant with a leading international consulting firm as well as a senior advisor to the Ontario Minister of Finance. Edward holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto and is currently completing a Masters of Health Administration at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto.
